Volunteers

Volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of all families who come through our doors! Our volunteers help give families time by freeing them up to concentrate on their child.

Volunteers are the backbone of RMHC Wichita and save us thousands of dollars in general and administrative costs per year, while providing much needed support to our families. There are numerous opportunities for individuals or groups to volunteer for Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita.  Call or email Becky at 269-4182 if you are interested in being a volunteer.

Baker and Meal Volunteer:   Our families enjoy home cooked meals and baked items.  Call and let us know if you would like to come to one of the Houses and prepare food for our families, or simply drop off a home cooked meal for them to heat up.  You can do this one time, or schedule a night on a weekly or monthly basis to prepare meals. The time commitment would be up to you and we can accommodate as many of you as there are days in a year!

Website updates/maintenance:  Help the administrative staff keep the website up to date and current through the use of a content management system. Help create page layouts, add pictures and keep content fresh, format and fix broken links and other basic Content Management System maintenance functions.  This volunteer needs to be experienced with the Flippr Content Management System. Time commitment would be 1 shift, 2 - 3 hours a week and is an in-office position.

Ronald McDonald House Volunteer:  Volunteer one weekday shift per week at one of the Ronald McDonald Houses assisting the House Manager with various daily duties such as answering the phones, recording and organizing donations, cooking and cleaning, and registering families.  Must be 18 or older, flexible, willing to assist as needs arise, prompt, reliable, enjoy interacting with families, have good hearing and be able to climb stairs.  Shift options are:  9:00 am - 12:30 pm, 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm, 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  The Ronald McDonald Houses are open daily. If these shift times do not work for you, we can customize a shift to meet your availability.

Ronald McDonald Family RoomVolunteer:  Volunteer one shift per week at the Ronald McDonald Family Room located in Wesley Medical Center adjacent to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Duties include answering phones, registering families, tracking room usage, checking supplies, upholding Family Room policies and assisting families.  Must be 18 or older, prompt, reliable, able to be without supervision, enjoy working with the public, and have good hearing.  Shift options are:     8:30 am - 12:30 pm, 12:15 pm - 4:30 pm, 4:15 pm - 8:30 pm.  The Ronald McDonald Family Room is open daily.
                                             
Speakers Bureau Volunteer:  Share the Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita story with schools, churches, civic and business organizations.  Speakers needed locally and throughout the state of Kansas. Training is provided.  Presentations vary in time. 

Committee Volunteeer:  Be a part of the growth and development of Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita.  Each committee has goals and objectives to achieve to meet the needs of the organization.  Supply your expertise and skills to help us achieve our goals.
